Resilient Bastrop County Initiative
The Resilient Bastrop County Initiative is a county-wide initiative funded through The Hogg Foundation for Mental Health. Bastrop County Cares was chosen to receive this three-year, $410,000 grant to build a community collaborative that will assess, plan and implement strategies to become a healthier community that supports resilience, mental health and well-being.
To move towards a deep understanding of our county and community, the initiative has decided to look at several different segments of the county to provide enhanced assessment and collaboration opportunities. We will look at our community from the lens of the historically-excluded, veterans, youth and the faith community. The goal is to foster trust as we move towards well-being.

TOP 3 PRIORITIES IDENTIFIED BY OUR NETWORK:
1. Networking, Engaging, & Connecting with the Isolated Veterans, seniors, youth and other excluded Individuals in the community.
2. Capacity Building: Broadening our reach in the community to provide development and leadership opportunities to diverse groups.
3. Bringing Awareness to the stigma of mental health throughout the county (Dismantling the stigma)
WHAT IS RESILIENCE
The process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats or significant sources of stress- such as family and relationship problems, serious health problems or workplace and financial stressors. It means “bouncing back” from difficult experiences. (Hogg Foundation, 2018; & APA, n.d), or as we like to say, "bouncing forward.
