Parents as Teachers Achieves Blue Ribbon Status

Kids don’t come with a manual, and it can be overwhelming trying to figure out how to do all the things.

Parents as Teachers (PAT) promotes the optimal early development, learning, and health of children by supporting and engaging their parents and caregivers.

In the Parents as Teachers program, parents have access to tools and resources to support and encourage them as their children journey from prenatal to kindergarten.

Here’s how PAT helps parents and caregivers:

  • Listens to and supports you in solving problems or concerns.
  • Assists with finding everyday items like formula and diapers.
  • Shares fun ways to play and teach your child as they learn and grow.

For families with a child who is five years old or younger, Parents as Teachers can help make sure the child is happy, healthy, and ready to meet their fullest potential. In Bastrop County, Bluebonnet Trails Community Services is the local affiliate of PAT.

To ensure that local affiliates are achieving fidelity to the PAT model, delivering high-quality services, and truly making a difference in the lives of children and families, the Parents as Teachers national organization has a Quality Endorsement and Improvement Process in place. Programs that earn the Quality Endorsement are recognized by the national office as Blue Ribbon Affiliates, the highest status awarded to sites administering PAT.

We are thrilled to share that PAT through Bluebonnet Trails achieved Blue Ribbon Affiliate status this fall. Being awarded Blue Ribbon status takes a lot of effort and involves a rigorous review process.

“The Blue Ribbon Status for our affiliate means that we are recognized for our commitment to high-quality services and continuous quality improvement to benefit the children and families of Bastrop County,” says Amy Clack, M.S., PAT Program Manager

“It will be the foundation for our work moving forward, in meeting or exceeding the rigorous quality standards that will best support the optimal development, health, safety, and school readiness for all young children in our program. In earning our Blue Ribbon endorsement, we have strengthened our commitment to self-reflection and best practices in early childhood education and family strengthening and support, which will continue to guide our program into an even brighter future within our community.”

Congratulations to the Parents as Teachers team on this well-deserved recognition!
