Did you know every 2 minutes, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in the US? It’s extremely important to realize the signs of breast cancer in order to catch it early.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and there are lots of events taking place around Bastrop County to raise awareness. Join us at any of these events and be sure to wear pink all month long!

Ascension Seton Bastrop and Ascension Seton Smithville are hosting mammography events on the following days — the intent of these events is to share additional Breast Cancer Awareness materials with mammography patients scheduled in the below timeframes. As of this morning there are still a few available appointments on event days:

  • October 6th 1p-8p (last appointment 7:20p) @ Ascension Seton Bastrop
  • October 7th 1p-8p (last appointment 7:20p) @ Ascension Seton Smithville

The Big Pink Bus at Lost Pines Toyota
The Big Pink Bus is back and bringing free breast cancer screenings to eligible Bastrop County residents. You must pre-register for a screening. Spots open for mammograms on the Big Pink Bus on November 11. English Flyer | Spanish Flyer

Smithville Mayoral Proclamation
Monday, October 18
Smithville Mayor Joanna Morgan will give a proclamation in support of the Smithville Cheerleaders’ Pink Out event at the city council meeting.

Join us for a community fair raising awareness of Breast and Prostate Cancers, as well as free screenings with the Big Pink Bus. If you or someone you know would like to get a free screening, you must register in advance, so please email [email protected]

Lone Star Circle of Care | Big Pink Bus

You can get your screening mammogram onboard the Big Pink Bus if you:

  • Are age 40 and older
  • Are uninsured, or have coverage from MAP, MAP Basic, or select commercial insurance
  • Have not had a mammogram in the last 12 months
  • Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Are not experiencing breast issues such as lumps, discharge, or pain
  • Can independently walk up and down stairs

ARA Diagnostic Imaging
ARA Diagnostic Imaging offers a full range of women’s medical imaging with expert radiologists in breast imaging techniques. Through digital mammography, ultrasound, and MRI experts diagnose cancer in its multiple forms and can also do minimally invasive biopsies using image-guided techniques.

Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas | BCCS
Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas (CAI) is an established Texas Breast and Cervical Cancer Services (BCCS) provider that helps women who are uninsured or underinsured, and have a household income at or below the 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guideline. Women who qualify are eligible to receive BCCS funding for screening and diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds, surgical consultations, breast biopsies, and case management for women with abnormal mammograms, breast issues, and those diagnosed with breast cancer. In addition, women also receive diagnostic, treatment, and financial navigation services.

Texas Oncology
Texas Breast Specialists-Bastrop, a part of Texas Oncology, is an allied group of physicians dedicated to diagnosing and treating diseases and disorders of the breast – both cancerous and benign. Ascension Seton delivers advanced digital imaging options for women including breast ultrasounds, 3D mammograms, biopsies and other screenings. Recommend annual screenings beginning at the age of 40.
