Care-A-Van: Smithville

Bastrop County Cares Caravan - a recreation van for the community

Care-A-Van: Smithville

Join Bastrop County Cares for our Care-A-Van event designed to strengthen families, promote healthy child development, and increase access to local resources in rural Bastrop County.

The Smithville Care-A-Van takes place on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at MLK Park 101 Ken Blaschke Dr, Smithville, Texas.

Our Care-A-Van brings free recreational activities directly to neighborhoods that may lack access to parks and playgrounds, offering soccer, basketball, archery, tag, reading tents, and creative play opportunities that encourage positive parent-child interaction and family connection.

While children enjoy safe, engaging activities, parents and caregivers can connect with our Parent Ambassadors and Community Health Workers to learn about local programs and supports, including public benefit enrollment (SNAP, WIC, Medicaid), early childhood services, workforce development programs, digital literacy opportunities, home visiting programs, and basic needs assistance.

Care-A-Van events are designed to remove barriers, meet families where they are, and build strong, protective factors that help children thrive and enter school ready to succeed. We look forward to welcoming your family in Smithville for a fun, engaging evening of recreation, connection, and community support.

Please note: Some activities are weather-dependent and schedules may adjust as needed.
