    Join Bastrop County Cares for our Care-A-Van event designed to strengthen families, promote healthy child development, and increase access to local resources in rural Bastrop County. The McDade Care-A-Van takes place on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the McDade Fair Grounds, 143 Bastrop Street, McDade, Texas. Our Care-A-Van brings free recreational activities directly to neighborhoods that may lack access to parks and playgrounds, offering soccer, basketball, archery, tag, reading tents, and creative play opportunities that encourage positive parent-child interaction and family connection. While children enjoy safe, engaging activities, parents and caregivers can connect with our Parent Ambassadors and Community Health Workers to learn about local programs and supports, including public benefit enrollment (SNAP, WIC, Medicaid), early childhood services, workforce development programs, digital literacy opportunities, home visiting programs, and basic needs assistance.     Springfest is a free, family-friendly community festival taking place at Fisherman’s Park in Downtown Bastrop. Hosted by the Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA serving Bastrop, Lee, and Fayette Counties, this annual event celebrates National Child Abuse Prevention Month while bringing families together for a day of fun and connection. Families can enjoy a variety of activities including a kids’ play zone, bounce houses, games, live music, food trucks, and interactive experiences with local organizations. Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with community resources such as first responders, educators, and healthcare providers, all in a fun and welcoming environment.
