Join Bastrop County Cares for our Care-A-Van event designed to strengthen families, promote healthy child development, and increase access to local resources in rural Bastrop County. The Stony Point Park Care-A-Van takes place on the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Thursday of each month from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Stony Point Park, 105 Stony Creek Drive Del Valle, Texas. Our Care-A-Van brings free recreational activities directly to neighborhoods that may lack access to parks and playgrounds, offering soccer, basketball, archery, tag, reading tents, and creative play opportunities that encourage positive parent-child interaction and family connection. While children enjoy safe, engaging activities, parents and caregivers can connect with our Parent Ambassadors and Community Health Workers to learn about local programs and supports, including public benefit enrollment (SNAP, WIC, Medicaid), early childhood services, workforce development programs, digital literacy opportunities, home visiting programs, and basic needs assistance. Care-A-Van events are designed to remove barriers, meet families where they are, and build strong, protective factors that help children thrive and enter school ready to succeed. Bastrop County Cares is partnering with the Central Texas Food Bank, Friendship Bible Church, Community of Hope, and the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) to provide free, nutritious meals to children and teens ages 1–18 throughout the summer. The Stony Point Park distribution will take place at 105 Stony Creek Drive on June 10, June 24, July 8, July 22, August 5, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Food distribution begins at 1:00 p.m. and continues until 3:00 p.m. or until all food boxes have been distributed. No registration or proof of income is required. Each child must be present at pickup. If the child cannot attend, a parent or guardian must provide documentation verifying the child, such as a school enrollment letter, report card, school attendance record or parent portal screenshot, birth certificate (for children not yet in school), or student ID.
