Finding Support Through Fatherhood

For the past several weeks, Monday nights have looked a little different for a group of fathers in Bastrop County.

Each week, ten men walk through the doors of the 24/7 Fatherhood Class carrying different stories, experiences, and challenges, but they all share one thing in common: the desire to become better fathers for their children and families.

What began in April as a six-month program has quickly become more than just a class. It has become a space where fathers feel comfortable opening up, sharing honestly, and supporting one another through the realities of parenting, co-parenting, work, stress, and everyday life. Week after week, conversations have grown deeper, trust has grown stronger, and the group has formed a true sense of community.

The 24/7 Fatherhood program focuses on helping fathers strengthen their relationships with their children through practical parenting tools, communication skills, emotional connection, and personal reflection. But beyond the curriculum, something powerful has happened within the group itself. The men have realized they are not alone.

For many participants, simply having a space where they can talk openly about fatherhood without judgment has been meaningful. They celebrate successes together, encourage one another through difficult moments, and challenge each other to continue growing into the fathers they want to be. Through laughter, honest conversations, and shared experiences, the class has become a reminder that strong fathers are built not only through knowledge, but through support and connection.

As the group continues this journey over the coming months, one thing is already clear: the impact of showing up, listening, and growing together is creating lasting change not only for the fathers themselves, but for their children and families as well.
